Incompetent computer tecks
Thursday night I tried to scan a picture I had just finished using my All-In-One HP Photosmart Premium C410a scanner. It would not work. I bought it in February 2011 and had not had one single moments problem. I almost went ballistic. It was too late to call HP so I waited until I got home from breakfast Friday morning (06/02/11). I called HP, went through the menu and finally got a service tech on the phone. I explained to "Sam" (probably not his real name) what the problem was, he connected with my computer and for 2 hrs did all sorts of "unnecessary" things; for example; he changed my complete computer set up including the fonts I prefer to use and my color scheme. After 2 hours he said he needed to check something and could he call me back in ten (10) minutes. Well, 1 hr and 40 minutes later I called HP back. Went through the menu again, got hold of a new guy named "Debrook" who said he was in India (no surprise there!) I spent over 2 hours on the phone with him and he finally told me it was my computer. That my computer was too old. It not the scanner, it your computer. I told him, "It is not my computer. It has worked fine up till now and it will still print but not scan, so it's your product where the problem is." Anyway, he finally said he would need to have a case manager call me in 24 to 48 hours, gave me a case number and hung up the phone. Oh yeah, he also said that if I bought Windows 7 it would speed up my computer and do away with the problem. This morning I sat down at my computer, tried to scan, it didn't work. I deleted some stuff. Put the CD back in to see if it would load again. Clicked on some stuff I had no idea what it was, it took me to two HP websites and I downloaded "stuff", went through running those, deleted the entire program again, rebooted my computer, reinstalled the CD and it works just fine... See! It was not my computer and it looks like I'm smarter than the HP technicians in India.
